Why Hire a Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Service?

Your pets thrive on routine and familiarity. Their home is their sanctuary, and some animals simply get nervous when boarded at a kennel. A pet sitting service can alleviate that nervousness while guaranteeing that your pets get the food, medicine and attention that they're used to throughout the day. A well exercised dog is less likely to display destructive behavior in your home. Providing a stimulating break during the day could help prevent separation anxiety, which can be painstaking to treat. Because most of us work full time it is almost impossible for us to provide all of what our dogs need without help. Seeking the services of a professional dog walker is a great way to get the little extra attention your dog needs. We personalise our pet sitting and dog walking services to fit all of your and your pet's needs. Good Doggy doesmuch more than provide your pet with water and food while you are away from home. We also spend quality time with them, ensuring your pet receives adequate exercise, companionship and affection and monitor the health of them.

PET SITTING VISITS

Good Doggy provides care in the comfort of your own home, where familiar surroundings provide your pet with reassurance. Losing touch with you is stressful enough for an animal; they may cry, refuse to eat or misbehave in reaction to separation. All these reactions may worsen if the pet is taken from the familiarity of their home and environment and placed into a boarding facility or kennel in which they are unfamiliar. As well, the risk of your pet escaping the facility is greater, since an animal’s instinct may be to attempt to return home. Risks of infections and parasites increase with exposure to other animals, too.

Why Pet Owners Hire Professional Pet Sitters:
Pets are happier and experience less stress at home
Diet and exercise routines are uninterrupted
Travel trauma for both owner and pet is eliminated
Pet’s exposure to illness is minimized
Untrained or unwilling friends/family/neighbors need not be called
In-home professional pet care provides added peace of mind

DOG WALKING VISITS

Good Doggy offers personalized reliable weekly, or two/three/four/five day dog walking packages. We specialise in individual leash walks, where your pet is getting all the attention. Being one-on-one with a carer is also the perfect opportunity to practise your dog's obedience skills.

Dog walking provides these benefits:
Regular exercise ensures your pets' physical and mental health.
Running and playing can tire a dog so he is less likely tomisbehave.
Active dogs who do not have an outlet for their energy often become destructive and may exhibit neurotic behavior such as digging, barking, and destructive chewing.
Important socialization for raising well-adjusted dogs.
Daily mid-day visits for puppies help maintain a consistent housebreaking schedule.
Crate trained puppies need to get out every 3 – 4 hours for proper training and socialization.
A helping hand when you have a busy schedule.
No guilt at having a busy schedule.
Relieves your concerns about leaving your dog alone all day.

After all: A tired doggy is a good doggy
Get your neighbour involved and organise the dogs walked together for a cheaper option.

FAQ

It is sometimes difficult to impose on friends, family, and neighbors, especially during the work day or holidays. There is less likely to be a time conflict or a feeling of imposition with a sitter dedicated to your pet. We offer the best of both worlds by keeping our professional service personable and super friendly. You can expect handwritten notes for each visit too!

Increasingly busy households with both partners working mean pets are often left on their own all day leaving the pets bored and unhappy and potentially destructive plus the owners consumed with guilt. The family dynamic has changed and the children who, in the past, could be relied on to excercise and play with pets, have grown into uncooperative teenagers. Perhaps a new baby is on the way or has already arrived and there is simply not the same amount of time or energy. Changes in health, whether permanent or temporary can make it impossible to give your pet the time or the energy required to keep it healthy and happy. Later in the year evening walks become more difficult with fading light. Having a pet is a huge responsibility and is sometimes entered into without considering the full implications and the responsibility can become a burden without help.

Mostly we care for dogs and cats, plus many types of small animals. Feel free to email us about any additional animals you may need care for. We apologize but we do not provide care for dogs aggressive to people. Dogs aggressive to other dogs will be considered on a case by case basis.

An initial meeting with us is set-up in the pet's home environment. We try to schedule this a minimum of one week prior to your reservation to allow enough time to go over paperwork, questions and your pet's information. Two sets of keys will be exchanged at this time as well as paperwork dropped off.

After our initial meeting we will have gotten a fairly good picture of your dogs' daily routine. We try the best we can to keep the routine what your dog is used to or introduce a halftime point if scheduling new weekly afternoon visits. We try to keep a two hour window for dog walks and one hour window for puppy visits. However, there may be unexpected delays while caring for other pets or traffic.

We're pretty easy going, we just ask that you would let us know at least 48 hours earlier to cancel one visit to get your payment credited back to you. If you'd like to discontinue afternoon weekly visits, we ask for two weeks notice. There are no contracts so you can rest easy. For cancellations for the same day, your pet's time is already reserved and scheduled in your sitters day, that cannot be refunded. If you'd like to cancel for a weekend, please give us at least a week's notice. Holidays are very special to your family and ours, we ask for 20 percent of your payment due at the time of reservation. If you need to cancel a major holiday with less than two weeks notice your deposit will not be refunded. We also offer peace of mind. If you get unexpectedly delayed on a plane or any other place you cannot get to a phone, don't worry. Your sitter will continue to visit your pet until we hear from you! Just kindly give us a call when you get in so we don't worry.

Payment is due the first Monday of your scheduled service. For example, if your reservation is for Thursday through Sunday you would send payment the Monday before that Thursday. This ensures payments are completed before you travel in case of any mistakes or other complications when you might not be readily reachable. Weekly afternoon clients may send payment on Mondays each week as well, any refunds will be applied to the following week. We accept cash, cheque or bank transfer at the moment.
